Archeological and historical investigations in Samaná, Dominican Republic

Abstract

This is a comprehensive study exploring the archaeology and history of the Samaná region in the Dominican Republic. Presented as Bulletin 147 of the United States National Museum, it documents archaeological findings, including indigenous artifacts, settlement remains, and evidence of cultural contact, primarily from the pre-Columbian and colonial periods. The work also includes ethnographic analyses and descriptions of the region's historical and cultural context. Combining material evidence with historical accounts, the book highlights Samaná's significance as a key location for understanding interactions between Taíno and European cultures.
