Impact investing in the Dominican Republic

Abstract

[English] There exists a lack of investment in the environmental sector. Environmental entrepreneurs, such as those operating in sustainable agriculture, ecotourism, and renewable energy, can all have a positive impact on the environment. These businesses have an environmental focus incorporated into their business model, recognizing the severity of climate change, and have a desire to minimize the environmental effects associated with human activity. Considering the effects of climate change in the Dominican Republic, which would similarly be felt on other island nations and countries around the globe, it is imperative to invest in companies that incorporate environmentalism into their business model. Through this type of impact investing, it is possible to mitigate the effects of climate change and minimize if not eliminate further damage in the environments we live in and on which we rely.
