SinopsisSince its launch in 2021, the Fondation Segré Conservation Action Fund (FSCAF) — a partnership between the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Fondation Segré — has played a pivotal role in addressing biodiversity loss and promoting community-based conservation. Focusing on animal species that are often overlooked and underfunded, the Fund has awarded 84 grants across 41 countries, targeting 152 threatened species while strengthening local civil society organizations and early-career researchers. Through its Conservation Action Grants (CAGs) and Research Support Grants (RSGs), FSCAF has empowered frontline conservation actors to implement practical, science-driven solutions that make a tangible impact on the ground. Case Studies: - Empowering coastal communities to protect the Critically Endangered scalloped hammerhead shark in Golfo Dulce. - Mapping Bangladesh’s key shorebird sites and threats to migratory species through data-driven research. - Restoring critical habitats and reducing threats for Hispaniola’s Endangered rock iguanas. - Rediscovery and habitat mapping of the Critically Endangered dark sitana lizard in Nepal. - Community-led action and eDNA science to protect the Endangered Mekong freshwater stingray. - Mapping habitat connectivity to safeguard mpasa migration in Malawi’s river systems. - Expanding the last refuge of the mountain gazelle in Türkiye through habitat restoration and community action. - Understanding diet overlap and habitat suitability for the conservation of reintroduced antelopes in Chad.es
