| Abstract | This research estimates burned areas of tropical broadleaf and coniferous forests in the Dominican Republic between 2000 and 2020, using optical remote sensing. The methodology implemented was based on a statistical analysis to identify the best spectral indices and ratios that enable the detection of burned areas in our dataset. The dataset is mainly composed of 936 MODIS images at 500m spatial resolution over nine protected areas located in the Dominican Republic. | es |
