Abstract: | This global evaluation of the conservation status of the Magnoliaceae has been one of the few attempts to evaluate an entire plant family. In total there are about 245 taxa described in the family and IUCN Red List categories and criteria have been applied to 151 of these. A further 94 taxa are listed in this report as Not Evaluated (NE). The NE species are mainly those for which insufficient information could be found for mapping purposes during the study. It is likely that some of the NE species are threatened in the wild given their limited range and the threats to forests in general, but this could not be confirmed during the evaluation. It is also clear that some of the NE species have wide distributions and may be considered Least Concern (LC) when further information becomes available.
