Primer registro de Orius flaviceps (Hemiptera: Anthocoridae) en República Dominicana, depredador de thrips en aguacate

[Español] La especie Orius flaviceps (Poppius, 1909) es un antocórido poco conocido que ha sido registrado de México, Islas Caimán y la isla Guadalupe. Los aspectos de su biología, ecología e historia natural son prácticamente desconocidos. En este trabajo se registra esta especie por primera vez para República Dominicana, donde se encuentra ampliamente distribuida por todo el país y ha sido observada depredando trips (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) en flores de aguacate (Persea americana Mill.) en cuyos peciolos coloca sus huevos.

[English] The species Orius flaviceps (Poppius, 1909) is a poorly known anthochorid that has been recorded from Mexico, the Cayman Islands, and Guadalupe Island. Aspects of their biology, ecology, and natural history are virtually unknown. In this work, this species is recorded for the first time for the Dominican Republic, where it is widely distributed throughout the country and has been observed preying on thrips (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) on avocado flowers (Persea americana Mill.) on whose petioles it lays its eggs.
