AbstractThe chapter examines the intricate relationship between poverty, environmental degradation, and disaster vulnerability within the Dominican Republic from the Blending Evaluation Principles with Development Practices to Change People’s Lives report, and its proceedings from the fourth International Conference on National Evaluation Capacities developed from 26-30 October 2015, in Bangkok, Thailand. Despite notable economic growth, the disparities are further exacerbated by the country's susceptibility to natural disasters, especially in densely populated urban and coastal regions. To address these multifaceted challenges, the Dominican Republic, with technical and financial support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), established a specialized monitoring and evaluation platform. Operated by the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development in collaboration with the National Statistics Office, this platform serves as the official repository for tracking progress on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and, subsequently, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).es
