AbstractThe PROMAR project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment and Nuclear Safety (BMUV) and coordinated by Zukunft – Umwelt – Gesellschaft gGmbH (ZUG), seeks to reduce plastic packaging and single-use plastics entering the Caribbean Sea by promoting Circular Economy solutions in the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Colombia. Implemented through four work packages, the project involved establishing waste monitoring systems, testing and replicating circular solutions, raising awareness about plastic pollution, and advancing Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policies. In collaboration with local authorities and stakeholders, PROMAR employed methods such as beach data sampling and material flow analysis to assess pollution baselines and track progress over time. This report presents findings from the Dominican Republic, where Parley for the Oceans served as the local partner, comparing baseline data collected in 2021 with post-intervention data through 2024 to evaluate the effectiveness of local waste prevention pilot projects and overall project impact.es
