Environmental implications of trade liberalization in the Dominican Republic under the Free Trade Agreement for the Americas (FTAA)

Abstract

The primary purposes of this paper are to help focus attention on potential environmental impacts of possible upcoming trade liberalization agreements involving the Dominican Republic and identify and discuss a range of responses and mitigating measures for managing such impacts. In pursuing these purposes and conducting the associated eco-environmental analyses, it was our great pleasure to consult with a broad cross-section of individuals representing public and private entities associated with a variety of economic sectors and environmental interests in this country.
